Q&A

This is provided to you to answer questions that you may have if your vehicle was taken to 1st Class Towing.

Was your vehicle in an accident?

If you have been in an accident and have full coverage insurance, we suggest you put a claim in with them and they should take care of everything (picking the vehicle up from here and taking it to a shop or salvage yard and paying the fees that are owed here). If you have a claim, we recommend you come down here and take any and all belongings out of the vehicle at our yard, if you cannot make it to our yard while it’s here, you may contact your insurance company about how to get the belongings out once it leaves here. We require a “release” to your insurance company which means you must give us permission to let the insurance company take the vehicle from here and we accept both verbal and written releases. We will not let the vehicle leave the yard until we have received the release.

If you have been in an accident and you do not have full coverage insurance, there are a few options you have.

  1. You can come here and have the vehicle towed out to a location of your choosing. You may use us to tow it, you can have another company come and get it or if you have a trailer or tow dolly you may use that.
  2. You can call around to different junk yards to see what they will give you for the scrapping of the vehicle. Most companies will meet you down here, give you the money and you will give them the title. With this option you will be responsible for all the fees that are owed. They must be paid before the junk yard can take it.
  3. If you do not want to take the vehicle and do not want to sell it to a junk yard, you may bring 1st Class Towing the title and sign it over to us. This will wipe out any fees that are owed, you clean anything out of it you want, and we dispose of the vehicle.

Was your vehicle impounded by either Parker Police Department, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, or Colorado State Patrol?

If your vehicle was impounded by the above police departments, you MUST HAVE the following documents to drive the vehicle out of our lot:

  1. CURRENT registration and plates
  2. CURRENT insurance (you must have the ID CARD with the vin of the vehicle, we will also take electronic ID cards)
  3. VALID driver’s license (if you do not have a valid driver's license as the registered owner, you still must have a valid picture ID with you and you can have someone with a valid driver’s license come with you to drive it out)

If you do not have current registration or insurance, you can still get the vehicle out by having it TOWED OUT with:

  1. The title to the vehicle

OR

    2. An expired registration of ONE YEAR OR LESS

    3. Valid driver’s license or ID card

You may either use us to tow the car out for an extra fee, you can call a different company to come get it or if you have a trailer or tow dolly to and tow it yourself.

Was your vehicle stolen and recovered?

If your vehicle was stolen, we do suggest going through insurance if you have the proper coverage. If you do not have insurance, you can come down to the yard and take a look at the vehicle to see the condition of it and either drive the vehicle out or have it towed. You are still required to show the proper documentation to get a stolen vehicle out of impound which include:

  1. Current registration
  2. Current insurance
  3. Valid driver’s license
  4. Title

*There will be release fees that are owed at the time of pick up*

Is your vehicle on a Police Hold?

If you are told your vehicle is on a Police Hold this means the police agency is doing an investigation on it. This means we CANNOT allow access to the vehicle. This means you may not get into the vehicle to get anything out, you cannot go to the vehicle to take pictures and the insurance company is not allowed to their assessment. We do not have control over how long the hold will last nor do we have much information on the process of the investigation so if you want updates, you may call the police agency that has the hold on it to get more information. We will call you when the hold is released as long as we have contact information.

While the vehicle is on a Police Hold, storage does not accrue but the day it is released, storage will begin. There is also going to be the initial tow fees owed as well. Either the insurance company or the registered owner will be responsible for those fees at pick up.

Is the registered owner of the vehicle unavailable to get the car out?

If the registered owner of the vehicle is unable to physically come down here and retrieve the vehicle, they can send someone else to come get the vehicle. This can only be done by:

  1. Giving an appointed person a notarized letter stating you are ok with them taking the vehicle out of our yard

Example:

I (registered owners name) give (appointed person) permission to get my (vehicle information AND vin) out of 1st Class

Towing’s yard

And then get this letter notarized and given to the person who will be coming to get it

   2. Power of attorney

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE RULES. WE MUST HAVE EITHER ONE OF THOSE DOCUMENTS OR THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE RELEASED
